Tim Duffy, UK Group Chairman of M&C Saatchi, has been appointed Chair of the General Media Panel (GMP).

The GMP, a group comprising senior figures from the ad industry, provides invaluable advice and opinion to the ASA, CAP and BCAP, offering a practical industry perspective on a range of regulatory subjects including the interpretation and application of the Codes, the drafting of Help Notes and revisions to the rules.

Tim joined Saatchi & Saatchi in 1986 as a Strategic Planner and became one of the founders of M&C Saatchi which he helped build into a top 10 agency. He was appointed Chief Executive in 2004 and Chairman of the UK Group in 2009. Tim has worked for a range of clients including; the launch of the National Lottery, the London Olympics, British Airways, GlaxoSmithKline, NatWest, Procter & Gamble, and various government behaviour change campaigns, including Change4Life.

Of his appointment, Tim Duffy says: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to chair the GMP. Professionals from across industry – advertisers, creatives, media planners and publishers – volunteer their time to give peer advice. It’s an integral part of the self-regulatory system and a shining example of the collective responsibility industry take in working to ensure everyone can have confidence in the ads they see and hear.”

Tim will take up his role in September.
