The ASA recently upheld complaints about advertisements, placed by two hypnotherapists, that claimed “STOP SMOKING IN ONE HOUR; 95% SUCCESS RATE”. The advertisers were unable to provide evidence to prove the success rate within the stated time period and the advertisements did not emphasise the role of willpower.

If members are asked to carry advertisements for hypnotherapists with the same or similar claims, they are asked to contact the Copy Advice team for advice on acceptable claims.
