Instant access claims in financial advertising

Type: General
Product: Financial
Action: Contact Copy Advice
Sector: Financial

The ASA has upheld complaints against a claim that an account allowed instant access to funds, because to withdraw money the complainants had to telephone the advertisers to have the money transferred to an existing bank or building society (which took three working days). They were then bound by that institution’s procedures before they had access to their funds. The ASA considered that readers would expect to have immediate access to their money. Members are asked to contact the Copy Advice team before running any advertisement that refers directly or implicitly to “instant access” or “instant access accounts”.
