The Medicines Control Agency (MCA) has stated that GHB, which is likely to be advertised as a body building or sex drug, is a medicinal product and the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) have recommended that action be taken to restrict the availability of GHB and prevent its misuse.Both are concerned at the appearance of advertisements for GHB. The MCA has said that the product should not be marketed without a valid marketing authorisation from them; to do so is a criminal offence.If members are asked to publish or handle advertisements for GHB, they should consult the CAP Copy Advice team or contact Paul Hylton or Jane Robinson at the MCA on 0171 273 0617.
