Alcohol



Nine out of ten adults drink alcohol in the UK, but while it is part of many people's social life, misuse can cause a range of health and social problems. It is for this reason that advertisers should avoid encouraging styles of drinking that could cause problems, like excessive or irresponsible drinking. Special rules about advertising alcoholic drinks were drawn up by the industry in 1975 and these, updated in subsequent editions of the CAP Code, are supervised by the ASA.
