The ASA responded to the review conducted by Dr Tanya Byron into Children and New Technology. The response provides a background to the ASA self-regulatory system, outlines the work of the ASA to protect children and how the ASA regulates advertising within new media.

ASA Response to the DCA Consultation on the Regulation of Claims Management Services under the Compensation Act 2006 (August 2006)
The ASA responded to the DCA's proposed model rules for the advertising of claims management services. The response gives a background to the ASA's involvement with the issue as well as outlining our concerns that the DCA was moving away from its 'Better Regulation' approach.

ASA Response to the DTI consultation on the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (March 2006)
The ASA responsed to the DTI's proposals for implementing the UCPD. The response outlines in detail the ASA's concerns about the negative impact the transposition of the UCPD could have on advertising self- and co-regulation, particularly if criminal sanctions were imposed in relation to advertising.

ASA response to the DTI consultation on proposals for a Consumer and Trading Standards Agency (October 2005)
The ASA responded to the DTI's proposal to set up a single consumer protection body. The response emphasised the ASA's support of the consumer protection aspects of the OFT's work but suggested that it was better to do that through the OFT rather than a new agency.
