Hamish Pringle has been appointed as the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) Council’s representative on the Sales Promotion and Direct Response panel which advises the ASA and the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) on sales promotions and direct marketing matters.

The panel brings together experts of and practitioners in sales promotion and direct response who volunteer their time to give peer advice to the ASA and CAP and to discuss regulatory issues including:

• the application of an Advertising Code rule
• specific copy advice
• the interpretation of a claim
• industry practice and,
• other general regulatory subjects.

The panel may also help draft Help Notes or revisions to the Codes for the consideration of CAP and BCAP.

Hamish replaces former ASA Council member Sally Cartwright.

Hamish Pringle said: “I look forward to using my knowledge of sales promotion and direct response techniques to offer insight into the innovative ways brands are reaching consumers, which can inform ASA decision making.
