Compliance

Checklist image

The Compliance team helps create a level playing field for advertisers by ensuring the findings of upheld ASA adjudications are implemented by all advertisers who may be affected.

The team employs a variety of methods to achieve its objectives, which are described below:

 Newspapers and magazines

Monitoring

Monitoring is a large part of our work. We draw attention to ads identified as clear breachers of the Code and seek assurance of their withdrawal or amendment.

Repeat offenders

If advertisers continue to place ads that break the Code or seem to be deliberately refusing to work within the self-regulatory system, we take repeat offender action against them. Find out more.

Sanctions

We have several sanctions that can be applied against advertisers who do not comply with the Code from ad alerts, legal backstops, CAP member intervention or poster pre-vetting.
