Since 1st October 2011 there have been a number of specific restrictions on the pricing and promotion of alcoholic drinks sold in off-licensed premises in Scotland. Although not legal advice, this Advertising Guidance explains how promoters can continue to advertise alcoholic drink promotions in the UK without misleading or disappointing consumers in Scotland.  Promoters need to take care with the placement of, and claims made within, advertisements for promotions which may be available in other parts of the UK but not in Scotland, and this guidance outlines how to avoid targeting consumers in Scotland including suggestions regarding placement, scheduling and the use of disclaimers.
