Tai Chi is a series of slow movements, postures and stretches, based on a Chinese martial art, used to enhance mental and physical health. Like other physical exercise, Tai Chi can develop muscle strength and, when done regularly, might enhance general strength, balance, co-ordination and cardiovascular function.

Acceptable claims are likely to be those that refer to improving well-being, for example “helps relaxation”. Some evidence seems to suggest Tai Chi might be effective in preventing falls by improving balance and flexibility but marketers should be careful in making claims beyond that example unless they have adequate evidence (Rule 12.1).
